OPEN FACE BISON BURGERS WITH ORGANIC BEETS AND CARROTS
Bison Recipes that are healthy are easy because if you buy grass-fed, antibiotic free bison, it is healthy no matter how you prepare it! It is low in fat and terrific protein to nourish our aging muscles! My recipe today is a lovely open-face bison burger served with beets and carrots. Sound boring? NOT! When you vapor cook your organic beets and carrots the flavor pops so much you barely need seasoning… We just add a bit of sea salt and that is it!
Start with fresh, organic beets and carrots preferably from our local Farmer’s Market. Cut them into medium-sized pieces as shown. Put them into a cold Titanium Fry Pan and turn the heat to high. Add (optional) 2 Tablespoons of water to develop a quick vapor) and apply the lid. Once the steamy vapor is forming on the lid, lower the heat to 2-3-4 and cook for 15-20 minutes, depending on your stovetop temps. Smell the aroma up next to the lid and you will know when it is done… also make note of the vibrant change in color once it is cooked and ready to eat. Try not to lift the lid to lose the vapor.
Meanwhile, chop yellow onions (1 medium) and on or two cloves of fresh garlic, and a chunk of fresh jalapeno (if you like spicy). Sauté the onion first, in just about 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. Oil is optional in the Titanium cookware. Then add the garlic … and lightly brown. Once tender and browned lightly, add the diced jalapeno and sauté. Remove to bowl and cool. Add ground bison and mix well. Form Bison Patties and brown them in the same Titanium Fry pan. No oil needed.
Plate it up like shown. We did ours open-faced atop a slice of Sprouted grain bread, layered with fresh spinach or greens of your choosing. This is a bison recipe that is healthy and delicious. No one in my household complains!! To check out he easy to maintenance Titanium Cookware click here.
